High School Computer Club?
Hi, I just started a high school computer club and we do not have any ideas on what we should do for the club or what contribute to our school. Do you any ideas for activities, events, or something that we can do to promote computer and technology?
Update:So far our school has a website and we are trying to get the approval to do it from the school district. We decided no to Lan Party, since it is to big of a problem for our school. But the idea to build old computers for the needy sounds great. One idea we have is to give out ubuntu CDs and teach how to use Linux

You could always start with a school website if it doesn't have one already. You could post activities, events, dances, sports events, etc.. on it making it accessible to students, staff and parents. You could offer some tutoring on how to build computers if any of you know how to do build them. Good luck.
RayRay has a good idea. Microsoft has a site to host a free website now and that includes a free domain name with up to 25 email addresses.
I also rebuild old computers and donate them to needy kids. I have built 127 this year and will give away 12 to my church, so they can get them to needy kids for Christmas. The news paper may give your Club 3 free lines in the want ads so you can reach people willing to donate. Also look to local radio and TV stations.
At my school they ask for old broken computers and try to repair them for people who are not as fortunate to have them.
ohh have computer game night every monday.
