If this is something you need temporarily, do a liquid diet for 72 hours. Water, 100% juices (none with excess sugar or crap, I recommend lemonade like Simply Lemonade or Cranberry Juice, not juice cocktail) and if you should need to eat some solid food, stick to low fat proteins like eggs or lean meats like Turkey (low sodium). Worked for me :-) Note that this is NOT something you should do for long term weight-loss or for more than a few days at a time. Hope it helps!

well if its for athletic reasons, workout with a sweatshirt and sweatpants on.
Cut crap from your diet if you eat that kind of thing. Eat a little less. Work out a bit more, 3 pounds shouldnt take more than a week or two.

Cut your calories to about 1200 per day and drink tons of water!
Eat less, exercise more. That's the best way.
