The antique is a glass. its made out of sterling silver. inside the cup (where a drink would go) is plated with 24 karat gold. So its considered an alloy of gold?
I always sold pure gold charms, pendants and rings. Never had a piece like this, and I really wanted to sell it.
Will the gold stores still take it? They can melt the gold and separate it out through chemical and physical properties right..

The value of the gold is negligible and the gold is not worth recovering. Even on a large piece, the gold may come to 30 - 40 milligrams, or around one thousandth of a troy ounce. The sterling silver (92.5% pure silver) is where the value of the piece is.
