I Have an IBM R51 Thinkpad that came with Windows XP ... I went to Ubuntu because XP is getting kinda old and took up A LOT of space on my computer ( it only has like 20gb of total space on my HDD ) . I know crap right ? but anyway I replaced XP for Ubuntu 11.04 and works great ... except the fact that it lags a lot on games from the Ubuntu software center . Before Ubuntu I could play counter strike and stuff fine ... but now it will lag with games horribly . Like down to 4 fps . Its crazy ... but can some one help me ... its starting to get really annoying . any help will be appreciated
Update:Stephen Thank you for helping me ... Im a complete noob when it comes to Ubuntu ... ( i just got it ) and so far so great except the fact its not working well when it comes to my graphics card ... and can you please give me step by step instructions for that please ?

Make sure your using the proprietary (restricted) graphics driver. If your not the 3D won't work right and that will be your end result. Also do you have a /swap partition?
