I'm a gymnast and I'm way behind on the skills I and my friends (teammates) SHOULD have. all of them are making great progress except for me whose going Really slow. I'm really scared is my problem and I don't have alot of courage when it comes to the BALANCE BEAM. I need something I can say in my head or a whisper to myself that will make me just go for it. Any advice will work THNX!!!
Update:The skills I need help on are
1)CARTWHEEL BACKTUCK off the end of the beam
2) BACKHANDSPRING on the beam

As a counselor, I have experience in working on these kind of issues. Believe that you can do it and, even if you make a mistake, that you can get up and try again. Believe in you. Don't focus on comparisons or what others are doing. Believe in you and keep telling yourself that you can do it. Appreciate what efforts that you do make and know that, even if you aren't where you want to be right this minute, you will keep working at it and get there.
Well if they can do it so can you . you know it is realistic to think you can. Remember I think I can I think I can and change it to I CAN. Get up in the morn and smile at yourself in the mirror and say I am confident I can handle this. Great Luck
