I've locked myself out of my bedroom and cannot seem to find one of several keys. It's one of those very simple inside locks; every room in my place has the same lock. It's a gold door handle with a small hole in the middle, and the key, as I remember, is a small silver key, basically looks like a flathead screwdriver only thinner (with a small flat end). I'd hate to have to pay a locksmith, does anyone know how I could pick this with a bobby pin or something? I've tried at length to get it open with a flathead screwdriver, but it's not working... Thanks!

A small flat head screwdriver will do it. The *key* for them is nothing but a very cheap version of a small screwdriver. Just a flat piece of metal that costs the manufacturer next to nothing since there isn't even a handle for them, so any flat head screwdriver that fits in the hole will do it.

Anything small enough to fit the hole, long enough to reach the plunger inside, and stiff enough to push it in will work. A regular bobby pin is probably too flimsy, but I've always bent one of the big ones into an "L" shape and then put them on top of the door molding. You can also get a set of jeweler's screwdrivers or Allen wrenches (hex keys) at a home center or hardware store for under $10 and then you'll have them for other things.
See if you can run an old credit card along the door jam and force the lock part in. . .or sometimes you can use a piece of wire. What does that little hole do?
credit card or ID should do it 2
