There are several reasons questions are deleted – not all are violations:
► No answer in 4 days
► Answered, voters choose "No Best Answer"
► Best Answer reported for violation
► Reported as violation
If you got NO notice, deletion might be due to one of the first 3 reasons. Nothing to be done about that; it is simply how the site works.
If you got an EMAIL, then your question was reported. It generally takes at least 2 reports for an item to be removed as a violation, although one report by a person with an extremely HIGH “trust” level can do it in certain circumstances.
For violations, points are lost and you should get notice. Community Guidelines explain what a violation is – chatting is the most reported violation. Here are links to learn about violations.
The Yahoo statement is that one or more trusted reporters must report a question or answer for it to be deleted. You can appeal and if the appeal is upheld the reporter loses some credibility. It takes a number of violations to get someone suspended, the exact number would vary dependant on the severity of the violations.
