I have spent the past 4 hours editing a video and was close to finishing it when it froze up. It's still on my computer and I don't want to lose it. I use VideoPad Video Editor. So how can I unfreeze my computer without losing my work? (The video is for a presentation for a family member of mine who just passed away. Everybody I showed it too said it was really nice, and I really don't want to lose it. So please help.)

Just restart your computer. Most video editing software has autosave enabled in case of this type of thing occur
if your vid editing app is what is froze up, your up a creek.
I suggest you periodically save the progress you have made so you will have some point to resume editing if this happens again. If its another app that has froze up, try this.....
press, (control, Alt and delete at same time)
Press, (start task manager)
end process of any program not responding.
I can pretty much put blame on editing app. Very resource hoggish and tends to hang up system if not powerful enough system(mainly vid card).
I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum. It's a lighter version of the Pro version but can do all the things you listed fairly easily.
Basically, give it a hard kick.
I am not joking, I hit my computer hard drive when it was frozen and it worked a dream:)
Dry it in the sun till it gets defrosted.
