i recently had a bunion surgery and they gave me a compression sock to help the swelling go down. But I don't understand how it helps the swelling go down because the sock is tight. From my understanding if you're wearing something that is tight is cuts off circulation so therefore makes it swell up. Now, I may be wrong on this case but i'm really curious as to how this helps swelling in anyway.

hon, the compression socks aren't for the swelling, it's to deter blood clots...common after surgery, esp if you are not moving around too much after...it also may just help keeping the swelling from POOLING to your lower extremities because of walking (gravity) or immobility...good luck.....& btw, IF they tend to crease, it will cause swelling to pool within the crease...so...ya need to frequently pull them up & fold in such a way that there are NO creases...check behind the leg esp....again, good luck!! & YES!! they ARE a pain to put on!!!
