My dad seemed confused at first and distant. After a few weeks he started getting really excited. He would call and check on me everyday. I think it's just hard for Daddys to see their little girls grown up. Becoming a mother yourself is a huge!
My Dad is really excited about the baby and keeps asking if we know if it's a boy or girl yet. I sent him the u/s picture of the baby at 10 weeks and he said it was awesome, so it made me feel really good that he's so supportive of everything. I'm sure you're Dad is excited too and will probably start to show it more when your bump gets bigger and the baby arrives :) Good luck!
A few months after my husband & I got engaged, my dad gave me a serious talk about how he was concerned that my fiance & I should wait until we have a better financial situation before we try to have a baby. Then shortly after that, 'surprise!' I got pregnant. Needless to say I was afraid of my dad's reaction to the news even though we were happy. So we went & told him in person. His reaction was funny. He looked serious for a second, then said, 'I'm gonna be a grandfather before my twin brother!'
When my son was born my dad didn't want to share him with anyone when he visited us. And when my son was about 5 months or so my dad changed his mind completely saying that I'm so good with him & it happened at a good time. I'm grateful that my dad is so happy & that he loves my son so much!
Don't worry too much, it's a lot to take in. Is this his first time being a grandpa too? Maybe you should ask him how he's feeling? :)
My dad is the same way! with my first he was a little nervous but now he loves her to death and is very excited about me being prego with my second..i think hes super excited this time cuz im having a boy and he always wanted a boy but got us 3 girls instead!
my dad is super excited, but all dads are different...I'm sure he's happy for you maybe he's just curious to how youll raise it or if you cant if your young...but really his opinion doesnt really matter so i wouldnt freak too much. Good luck!

My dad is super happy about it. He already refers to my unborn son by his first name and talks about him as if he is already a part of the family.
