I live in Brazil and I want to study tourism but I'm still not sure what I'll want to do within the tourism business.
Does anyone know how much a travel agent earns in London/UK. I want to move there in the future, but I am worried about the recession and all the cuts. Would I be able to get by if I were to be a travel agent and work my way up?
Update:I am european, I was born in Portugal and I lived there from the age of 7 - 16, in London...so I am allowed in UK.

There are severe restrictions on letting people into the UK to work, unless they come from Europe. To get a work visa you will need qualifications (e.g. a master's degree) and experience in a job that we have a shortage of workers. The only job in the travel industry on the list at the moment is for senior chefs with five years experience in a good restaurant.
A better plan would be to get a job with a Brazilian company that might send you to the UK, maybe guiding Brazilian tourists around the UK.
Update: Having an EU passport changes everything.
Travel agent's pay seems to be around £15 - 20,000 per year, based on a few job ad that I have seen - have a look for yourself:

Some jobs offer commission as well.
I think that you would be struggling on this money in London, but would be Ok if you were earning this in somewhere like Newcastle.
