Okay so I just had a child (I'm underage) & I've thought about giving my parents temporary custody because my parents insurance won't cover grandchildren & i've tried applying for medicaid. Do you think this would be a wise choice? (please no bad judgment or rude comments) How long would they have custody for?

It's not a wise choice. Your parents medical WOULD cover a grandchild if they want to pay extra to add one on.
You will have to go to court for the custody to give it to them AND to get it back. If your parents want to play hardball, they can make it difficult for you to get custody back.
You cant just give them baby, it has to be done through courts and will cost a lot of money and would be permanent custody, the only other way you can do it is if child welfare takes baby from you and puts it into foster care/adoption and you probably would never get it back as it would need to be done through child neglect and the same with your parent, it is not something you can do for a few moths or when it suits you and it will always be on file and you would be classed as an unfit mother, would your parents want custody of your child and if this did happen you cannot live at the same address as baby, Good Luck.
Its not the same but my bro and gf have just bn to court cos social services took them as they think they can't look after there baby n it's 2 weeks then they r reviewing it again. So maybe if you did it it would be as long as you want but I would try and find some leaflets or maybe talk to your midwife or someone who can find out even you could get a solicitor with you parents they could tell you alot. Glad to here that someone is actually thinking about the best option for there child. Good luck.
once you 'hand' custody over to them, you will have to go to court to get it back,, they can keep the child and you will never be able to get them back..
what state do you live in.. in most states even a minor pregnant teen can get medical insurance..you said you tried medicaid, what did they say..?
they will have custody as long as THEY want, NOT as long as you want. is it not as easy as you think..
temporary custody is strictly temporary however i dont know if their insurance would even cover the baby then. Sorry i couldnt help more.
