i have one of those home theatre systems that can connect component cables from a Playstation 3. But then my tv only has composite cables to connect to so if the component cables is connected to the home theatre system and then gives it to the tv via composite cable, does that mean i still get component video.
It might sound confusing. =P

No. You will get composite (or nothing if the HT doesn't combine the component signals to composite). Component to the home theatre is useless anyway because it's video only and you are simply using the HT as a switch (and transcoder to composite). If your display (TV) doesn't have an input for component you are stuck with composite or S-video.
If your home theatre reciver has the component output to the tv then you should see a picture, 720p 1080i/p which ever it supports.
see your hand book comes with those components .
It should be about the same.
