how to fix a compaq presario V2000?
my screened cracked. how much would it cost to fix it? if i cant how would i get the information out from it? it has a virus on it also,i tried my uncles laptop to take it out but it wont work it has to be the same kind of laptop, so is there another way??

if you want to retrieve the files from a non-working laptop, you have to bring it back to the manufacturer, information from laptops / notebooks are encrypted that's why you can't take the info's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3.
You would have to buy a new or used LCD replacement for your model laptop on ebay.
Then have someone replace it for you if you are not able to do so.
It will run you around 100-200 for a used LCD and probably another $100 to have it installed.
Buy a USB hard drive enclosure (they're $10 and your cheapest solution), put the laptop hard drive in the enclosure and plug the USB into another computer. Voila! you now have an external hard drive and you can transfer your files out or carry them with you.
