I used quicktime as my first recording system, but it often skips and isn't very good quality. However, it IS free and is most likely already on your computer. You can find it by clicking the spotlight search bar in the top right-hand corner of your desktop and typing in "quicktime." Then select that and choose:

File > New Screen Recording.

I also used Snapz X Pro, but it took up way too much memory and I couldn't choose where to save or anything.

All in all, there aren't very many good recording systems for Mac, unfortunately. I wish I could be of more help.
