My parents computer runs VERY slow. It's an older HP desktop computer. I checked and it said 2GB of RAM on 32 bit operating system. Runs on Windows Vista 2007. Could it be low RAM? How do I fix this without just buying a new computer, thank you!

2GB of RAM should be enough for the average user as of today.
Run you anti-virus and anti-malware programs. Run Task Manager and click the processes tab to see which program or programs are using the most of your CPU. Get rid of those program by uninstalling them.
yes it would vista requires a minimum of 1.5 gb of ram to run which means that your proccesses have very little ram to run on , since you have vista if it has room to upgrade id upgrade it to 4 gb or upgrade the os to 64 bit which i think has a charge of 50 dollers with an upgrade disk and if you do that go for 6-8 gb that should speed up the system a ton , next may be that since you have vista you also have a 32 bit proccessor which means somewhat low end best case its a core 2 duo which is still somewhat outdated, so id check that and if that proccessor is in a desktop 2.6 ghz dual core should be the minimum to look for 1.8 ghz for a laptop but yeah if you can upgrade the os and maybe get a new proccessor installed as well if its intel a high end i3, or i5 would be great if your socket supports it if not an intel 2 quad running at 2.6 ghz would be pretty good , but yeah 64 bit os upgrade is recomended so you can have around 6 gigs of ram at least and a quad core proccessr is recomended , and depending on if you like to game a dedicated graphics card may be a good idea too
Vista = profanity in my language..
It is a memory intensive OS that requires 2GB RAM just to run the desktop, leaving nothing to run the files folders and program files, my best advice is to upgrade to Win XP and use 4GB RAM
Make sure vista is updated
Ram may help some but not a lot
What processor does it have
Scan for both Viruses and other types of malware
Defrag the hard drive
delete temp files
I would highly recommend downloading, installing and running a program called Advanced System Care: http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Free/...
It keeps all of my computers running just fine.
So..
This is a good link for downloading JetClean for free http://j.mp/1lhqNjn
