The real world is MUCH different from HS. You are no longer going to be seeing the large group of the same people every day. You are going to be moving from job to job, meeting new people who you don't know, learning new ways to interact appropriately. Many of the interactions and behaviours that are common in HS are simply not appropriate in job environments. No more 'goofing around', no more pranks.
If you go to college, that's different from HS as well. College campuses are much larger than HS campuses, and there are vastly more students. Sure, if you live in a frat or a dorm, you will have a similar experience to HS. (The majority of students don't live in frats or dorms.) BUT, if you don't take your studies seriously and just party all the time, there's really no point in going to college in the first place.
After high-school, you are expected to be an adult capable of making rational decisions and making your own way in the world. It can be intimidating at first. No more 'hiding' within a set group of friends so much. You're more or less on your own as an individual. People go their separate paths after high school. I graduated years ago and have lost contact with virtually all of my HS friends. I have been lucky enough to find some of them on facebook (like about 15 of them). And THAT'S wonderful !
Real life is just that : LIFE. Once you 'hit your stride' and really understand who YOU are, the sky's the limit. Your possibilities are endless !! I've made some life-long friends working at various places. We no longer work together or live near each other, but we remain close friends.
Overall, in my opinion, 'real life' is MUCH more fun than HS, once you 'find' yourself. Really. For me, if HS was a 10, real life is a 20. :-D
