How far do you think the niners can go if this happens? Super bowl? I think it is very possible I that's the case with the weapons we now have around him Ans how good the defense is. Tell me if you agree or disagree with me and why?
Update:I said IF he had a pro bowl season, not do you think he will.

I think the Niners are better than their record has shown in the previous years. If Alex Smith does have a breakout season they have a good chance of making, if not going far into the playoffs. Personally, I don't think the Super Bowl is in their grasp right now. Give it a few years, I really like the direction the team is going.
They can go deep into the playoffs. Unless if this Pro Bowl season is like last year with David Garrard. Haha. So let's say All-Pro. Then they would go deep in the postseason. The main question about the Niners is the offensive line and the quarterback. They could go to the divisional round with the quarterback. If the rookies in the o-line do good, then an appearance in the conference championship could happen. This is a reach. I think Alex Smith will be solid, but not great. The Niners battle with the Cards all season, but the Niners pull out and win.
I dont think the offensive line can give the sort of protection he needs to be a pro bowl player, David Carr got a brutal pass rush against the Colts when the starting linemen were against the Colts' 2nd and 3rd string players. As for the defense, it is a good unit and can shut down a lot of teams, particularly against the run, but I have doubts about whether they can cope with an elite passing attack after seeing what Favre, Schaub, Rodgers, McNabb, Manning and even Ryan did against the team last year.
If Smith has a pro bowl year then the 49ers win the NFC West, but I dont think the defense has the firepower to carry them all the way to the super bowl.
They have a tough row to hoe in the teams they could have to put down to get that far. There are four really solid teams that look built for the superbowl in the NFC in Dallas, Green Bay, Minnesota and New Orleans. The 49ers pass defense isn't exceptional so they would struggle mightily with any of them. They also all have defenses on par or better than the 49ers particularly the Packers. I like the 49ers chances of making it to the playoffs and they might win one game, but I think they might be a couple seasons from being contenders for a championship.
Well, they are doing all they can to give him the very best he can possible receive. Built the O-line, hired Jimmy Raye to revamp the running attack. Gore is great passing option when healthy, Vernon Davis has really grown by leaps and bounds and should be healthy at the start of the year, Crabtree is a prima donna but damn talented so it really is time for Smith to step this up and earn it rather than be given the job because they don't want to see David Carr under center.
IF, he can produce...they win the division easily as Arizona is screwed and I really believe Carrol will melt down in Seattle and I think everyone in America agrees St. Louis is nowhere near ready to be a contender again.
If you saw the 49ers 1st team vs the Colst 1st team on Sunday you should realize that they have a long ways to go to be elite. They have a good defense but the offense will be no better than average as long as Alex Smith Is the QB. He's adequate at best. They are in a weak division so they should make the playoffs but from there its 1 game and out I think.
Sorry, no chance. He sucked against the Colts in the preseason game. Heck, David Carr (their backup) had way better numbers than him. They might get lucky and make the playoffs, but only if Arizona falls apart. And I think Arizona has too good of a coach to let them fall apart.
I Already answered a question like this and I don't feel like giving a Niners fan fake hope
Wild card, one and done. The 49ers are good, but the Cowboys, Packers, Vikings, Saints, and Eagles are better, which they would end up playing at least one of them in the playoffs.
no chance, 49ers suck!
