in a book, how do you quote someone quote someone else?
I'm writing an essay on a book, and at one point someone is telling a story, and in the story he's quoting someone else.
triple quotations?
" ' 'Poseidon god of the earthquake smashed [his] ship, / he drove it against the rocks at [the Cyclops's] island's far cape' ' "

Just one set of double quotes. "Poseidon ... cape." Period inside the quotes. Only use two sets of quote marks when you already have quotes in the bit you are quoting: ""Run" said the Tic-Toc Man."
