I am currently in the middle of an "Electronics technician" course and its going very well. I am thinking of going for my A.S. degree in "Industrial electronics and electrical maintenance technology" after this. My credits from the ET course will transfer to this course and I'll basically have 1 full semester done, so all I'd have to do is finish 3 semesters. Is this a good idea you think? Will this more or less guarantee employment? Also I read the average salary in NJ is $60,000. Do they really make that good a money? Thanks for any help.

Stay in school and get that B.S. or better M.S. degree! A good job inside where it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Yes I work outside. I have an assoc. degree in electronics eng. and became a trouble shooter for electrical and electronic systems. It's great work and rewarding but being an eng. would have kept me inside. As far as the salary... depends on you and where the work is. Best bet is STAY in school. No education is ever wasted. I have never heard anyone say I wish I was dumber. It is something no one can ever take from you. I have seen many and I mean many people hired just because they had a degree in something. Example... I know a man who's degree was in high school education. (MUSIC TEACHER) and got a job as a front line for-man in a nuke plant making 100+K a year just because he had a degree in something. It showed he had commitment. Very important! The more education the greater the commitment level. It also shows Great Responsibility level. By the way, an eng job in a nuke pays great after a few years of service.
Hope this helps.
try searching for a union on your commerce. on occasion you will discover an apprentice application you may qualify for. try registering at an employment employer that focuses on exertions and experienced trades. you may carry out a little networking with buddies and kinfolk. try your college counselor and notice in the event that they are in a position to help. Jobs are particularly scarce and with the employment value at 10%, it particularly is much greater complicated to discover a job.
