Intel core 2 duo or core i5 or core i7?
Would i5 or i7 be considered higher than intel core 2 duo? I am not sure becuz I know that i5 (i think) and i7 are quad cores and i do understand that turbo thing about the processors?

All processors are the same these days. Flip a coin. They are all going to be stupid fast.
I'm pretty sure the i series are faster...they are newer and have made a good reputation for themselves...they are built differently than the duo.
Ball park estimate is that they look to be about 30% or more pricier than the core2 duos, also.
Unless you have some special needs (gaming and video editing, etc)...the core 2 duo may be all and more of what you need.
