I am planning on buying the epiphone les paul ultra-II. This is going to be my first decent electric guitar, assuming it is a good guitar. I had a Strat knockoff but I hated it and am trying to sell it so I can make some money to buy this beauty. I really like the finish, and I've heard people play it, and I really like it. I'm obviously going to go down to guitar center and play it eventually, but before that, I just wanna know, is it a good guitar? How does it play? How does it sound? Also, I know its no Gibson but is there really that big of a difference? I hope not cause there is no way in hell I can afford a Gibson Les Paul, at least not yet.

It's going to be a decent guitar.. Not the Paul... but it's a good starter. Keep in mind that if you already have an amp, play it through something comperable to what you have now.. Also, when you play it, if you do indeed like it and are ready to purchase that day... Buy the one you played. The differance between two of the same model guitars can be night and day. Also know that you will be able to slap some differant pups in there if you want in the future to get a better sound... Make sure they set it up for you before you leave... get the action just right for you and you should be all set.
