Jump roping to lose 20-25 pounds question.?

if I do this jump rope every night thing, for 15 to 30 minutes each night, will it actually slim me down, I'd see results, and make me lose weight in a decent time period, or would it just make me bulky and gain muscle? My thighs and legs are key places I'd like to lose weight and look skinny at.
