I got this email yesterday. Never ever click on a link or attachment in your email unless you know it is 100% safe. Go directly to the Paypal website by typing the address in the address bar yourself. You can then log into your account and check what's going on. My email was a complete lie.....there was nothing wrong with my account.
Whatever you do, DON'T click on the link! Paypal would never email you like this. This is a definite scam! My boss recived a similar email a few months ago and nearly gave away all of her bank details plus her address. She only began to suspect something was wrong when the email asked for her National Insurance Number (why would Paypal ever need to know this?!) and directed her to US Paypal instead of U.K Paypal. If there was a problem with your account, Paypal would let you know next time you logged in to use it.
I hope this helps!
Ignore it, it's a scam.
If your in the uk then look at the the sender it will be something that probably ends in paypal.com so looks official. But if your in the uk you will be using paypal.co.uk so its different.
What ever you do don't send them details or click on any links its a scam, they send out millions and they only need 1 person to reply and they've made money.
Your card will be fine, nothing has happened to it. If your worried then log into paypal and check. Don't click on the link on the email to get to paypal do it how you would normally.
PayPal (and eBay) messages always contain your real name.
If the message only adresses you by your user id, 'dear member', your email address, or has no mention of identity at all you can be sure it's a spoof/phishing email.
You can confirm this by forwarding the message to [email protected] and they'll get back to you within a day or so to let you know if it's genuine or not.
Never click on any links in emails unless you're sure who sent the message.
Do not follow the link, sounds like someone's trying to get your account info. Log into PayPal by typing the address or contact them by phone!
This IS a phishing scam. Do not click the link!!!!!!
Close your browser (important) then re-open it and go to your PayPal account directly - NOT THE LINK IN THE EMAIL.
There you will see that your account is just fine.
dont reply its an scam and send this copy of email to paypal department and help others by getting fooled plz help others that what they in paypal safety they will check where did email came from and they will catch that people with the help of police plz.
Sounds like a scam, go to your ebay and log in and check your details and then there is a link to click on to report scam emails, not sure where exactly, but I have done it myself a while ago.
I can't remember the address for sure but go to paypal and look for where it says to turn in phishing emails. If it's real, they will tell you, if it's a phishing scam, they will tell you that too and thank you for turning it in.
This is an old scam, don't click the link.
Below is an example of it.
