I am currently looking into booking a trip to Vegas....my first!
It is a little overwhelming, and I am having trouble deciding on where to stay. I have narrowed it down to:
Mandalay Bay- which seems to have great "standard" rooms and an awesome pool, but have heard that the location is not the best.
Caesar's Palace- The "standard" rooms don't look as nice, and they are not as big, but the resort looks as if there is a lot to keep someone occupied.
Paris- I love the look of "themed" hotels, and it looks a bit "quainter" than the other, but I don't know much about the pool and the rooms don't look as plush.
Any opinions on those three would be very helpful, and if you have any other suggestions and ideas, I would be glad to hear them.
Like I said, this will be my first trip to LV, and I really want a hotel with a nice balance of comfy rooms, great pools (very important) and a "reasonably" good location!
TIA

Mandalay Bay has the best pool of the 3 with Paris the smallest. MB's location isnt terrible but it is at the far south end of the strip. It is connected to Luxor and Excalibur via walkway and monorail so you can easily get to those 3 places then MGM, NYNY and Trop are just a short walk away.
Caesars standard room is a bit on the small side of the Forum and Augustus tower rooms are pretty large and very nicely done. The location of Caesars is the best of the 3 with a easy walk to Bellagio, Mirage, Flamingo and about 8 or 10 other places.
Paris is nicely themed and the rooms are decent but for the price, I wasnt all that impressed. The Eiffle Tower is something you should definitely do but I wouldnt stay there just for that.
I would consider the Flamingo. It has an excellent location directly across the street from Caesars. It is usually pretty affordably priced, cheaper than all 3 of the places you mentioned and has a great pool that is very under-rated.
Another good choice would be MGM. They have about 10 different room types in various prices, a pool that rivals Mandalay Bay, many restaurant bars and clubs and is in a decent location across from NYNY Tropicana and Excalibur.
I have room pics from a bunch of places including the ones you are looking at on my site at...

I hope this helps and have a great trip!
I was just there - I would go with location - you will not spend much time in your room. we just stayed at the excalibur - I liked the location - the first room we got though faced a wall -- we requested another room - which then we had a great view of a roller coaster etc...but, you aren't in the room alot- i'm not saying to choose this place - I am saying to go by location when choosing. at the excalibur they have a free tram to take to 2 other casinos. find a map of the strip - and go from there - do not stay down by the stratosphere - thats away from the strip - you want to be on the strip- where you can go out walking.
we were there 5 days - and we had to make time to even go look at the pool in our hotel. way to much to see and do.
free things to do:
Fountains of Bellagio
Fremont Street Experience
Masquerade Show in the Sky - Rio
Volcano/White Tigers - Mirage
Lion Habitat - MGM
Statue of Liberty - NY NY
Sirens of TI - Treasure Island
Atlantis & Festival Fountains - Caesars
check for times for these - like the sirens of TI etc.. do alot of research before you go - I did, and that was so helpful - fremont street experience is worth seeing - we had a car so we drove there -but, otherwise - find a way to get there, its cool. If you have a car - read up on hoover dam - that was a lot better than I expected...
NOTE: bring your walking shoes!!! go with comfort - not fashion at times : )
Travel Zoo was offering $89 rooms for the new MGM Tower Suites which are very posh! The view is amazing and its right in the center of things. As far as Mandalay Bay is not so far out of the way at all. I live here and think that those two would def be where I would stay.
I would go for location. You are not going to spend much time in your room - or the pool for that matter. There are too many other things to do.
My personal favorite is the Venetian. Great location, great rooms, great shopping, great gambling and great location.
Have a fantastic trip!
