I m thinking of coming to a summer course for a month, can t decide whether go to LA or SD? Which place is more lively? Better shopping in LA i suppose?
I'd vote SD. SD has just as much to offer as LA, and it is beautiful! Stunning actually. Everything is easily accessible. It's not too far from LA, so you could make a trip to LA easily if you wanted.
LA is big, crowded, spread out, and it takes forever to get anywhere due to it's sprawl. It's not all that attractive either...if that is something you would consider.
I've lived in both, and I would choose San Diego over LA. There's lots to do in both places, but the beaches and the climate are nicer in San Diego. And, if you go to San Diego and find there's something you wanted to see in LA, they're only about 120 miles apart.
I lived in the LA area for over 30 years. Go to San Diego. Less traffic. Less smog. Beautiful beaches (esp.La Jolla). More sun. Just as "lively" as LA, but without the movie/TV frolicking amongst the common people.

LA is very nice and lively though a lot of traffic
SD is nice but not as good as LA
I'd pick San Diego...nice beaches, sunny weather, friendly people, etc.....I can't stand LA so I would choose San Diego.
