If the computer came with Vista, try contacting the manufacturer. They'll often sell you replacement discs for around $20.

If you still have your license key sticker then you can use any Vista disk. A friend's one for example.

The Vista disk I have also has all possible vista versions on it. So if you have vista ultimate and your friend only has vista basic it does not matter because you can install whatever version you like from the install disk - so long as you have a correct key for that version.

If you do not have the license sticker key then you are f****d.

I use an HP laptop with vista, but answers can vary.

1. Turn on Computer

2. Hold F11 for 10-20 (or F10 if nothing comes up, restart first!!)

3. Once it loads if it comes up with system restore, put "no" on that.

4. Next system recovery, put yes and your on your way!

Recovery - Restores original factory settings just like you bought it.

You should upgrade to Windows XP. Much more stable system. It doesn't waste system resources like Vista either.
