When I closed (put to sleep) my macbook earlier today it made the same sound which it makes when you open it from shut down or if you restart it even if I just closed it. When I got back home the background was blue and now I can't open any of the files/documents or folders on my desktop. Also I can't seem to change the background picture and when I tried moving files from the trash to the desktop they wouldn't move. Everything else seems to be fine. Safari, iTunes, email, they all work without a problem it's just the desktop which seems "locked" or something. Can someone help???

Hi there,
If you bought Applecare they will walk you through it.
Their website has great support, too. They have videos and tutorials that are great.
As a last resort you can use the DVD to re-install your OS.
Good luck.
make confident the autologin characteristic is disabled. below device alternatives - secure practices verify the container that announces "disable computerized login" this could require the password to be entered everytime the macbook starts up. with out the password your sister is surely no longer waiting to login.
bring it to a apple store
