So I recently got a letter in the mail from the dentist saying that basically wiped me from treatment because lack of payment. Well. It said that they would take them off for me. But no retainer which I have to have. Can I go to a separate dentist and just give then the set price for the retainer and then they mold me one??

I'm not sure if a dentist will make you a retainer because typically an orthodontist does that. But if you go to a separate orthodontist (or your current one if they let you) they'll do it for sure! Orthodontists don't only make braces for people they also make retainers which you can purchase alone. For me I did get braces and a retainer but when my dog chewed up both the top and bottom retainer they charged me about $100 for a brand new one. They told me that for new clients it might cost a bit more because they need to make a new mold for your teeth and some x rays but it shouldn't cost more than $200 for sure (probably about $150 depending on the orthodontist). You don't really need braces, I know a bunch of people who only wore retainers and it did take longer but it does correct your teeth pretty well too. Good luck, hope I helped a bit!
