Apparently the first idiot thinks that the only cause of keyboard death is dining next to it.... and he says he's been fixing computers for a long time.
Try this on for size.
I own 4 toshiba laptops, and one of them has (for some reason) been having problems with the keyboard.
If you can't type in your password, then from the logon screen press the Windows button (the one with the Windows logo) and the U button at the same time. I'm not sure if the utility manager allows OSK or not, I haven't messed around with it in a while, but it might. If your laptop is still under warranty, send it in. If it isn't, you should be able to just grab a keyboard online, if you're looking for a portable one, they have rollable keyboards, and projection keyboards. The projection keyboards are a bit pricey, but extremely small, fits right in your pocket and projects a full size keyboard.
Hopefully that will give you some insight.
Buy a USB keyboard now and use that one.
Order a laptop keyboard from ebay. Replace it.
And please stop dining next to your laptop. I know you did because I have been fixing computers for a long time.
