MALIBU, California? (Los Angeles County)?
Would you consider Malibu, CA "rural"?
I was arguing with someone about this...Obviously, it's a small beach town, but I would hardly call it the "country". I always thought that rural implied some agricultural character or farming (e.g. nearby Camarillo, CA)
It's obviously not urban either...so do you think it's suburban/residential or rural?

Definitely suburban. Way too many houses to be rural. (Although a lot of rural areas have agriculture, it's not necessary. It basically means undeveloped, which does not describe Malibu at all).
i would call it a suburb myself not the country per sec
