I have a (vet approved) healthy Australian Shepherd puppy. She's 2 months old and isn't doing well with potty training, but she's pretty responsive to other training lessons. She seems very smart and quick to learn except for the potty training. She drinks A LOT of water, like approximately every 15 minutes and pees in the floor. Other than walking her every time she drinks (ridiculous to keep up with) what can I do to keep her thirstiness from making her leave pee puddles. We are crate training her and leave her in there when unattended for long periods of time which is no problem. It's once she's out and about she sneakily squats in the floor inconsistently but always after drinking from her water. I've owned and trained (the basics) many dogs but never one as thirsty as her! Also only productive answers please without criticism. I'm asking because I do not know the answer.
Update:I appreciate your answer, however she's been in her crate for 6 hours by herself with no spills while my fiancee' and I have both been at work. Unless it's a mental bladder control problem I'm pretty sure that may not fully be the case.

A 2 month old puppy's bladder is small, so it fills quickly an needs to be emptied often. My concern is you say the dog is excessively thirsty. If she is honestly drinking water every 15 minutes, you should have your vet test her for diabetes. Dogs can have it, like people, and left untreated, causes excessive thirst in dogs, like it does in people. I hope your puppy is OK< You should take the dog to potty as soon as she wakes up in the morning, after naps, after meals. If you are consistent, she will catch on. They are a smart breed.
Yes if you have water for it left down like your supposed to do. If your taking the pup out to pee and it does then comes back inside and pees again with out drinking more water then I'd have the pup checked for a UTI. It's not unheard of for a young pup. Pupps only have a bladder the size of a walnut so it's not going to hold it for too long. Maybe an hour tops!
You can give her less water, like maybe half the bowl so she doesn't have to pee a lot, but maybe you can put one of those pet pee pads down and train her too go there.
you have to take her out more often.
no, its not "ridiculous".. frequent potty trips are part of owning a puppy. She doesnt have the bladder control yet to hold her urine.. so she pees often. You will just simply have to take her out to pee more often until she starts to learn how to hold her bladder.

The answer is taking the puppy out more often, simple as that. You think because she's forced to hold it for 6 hours that she can when given freedom of the house? NO.. she needs taken out more often, and praised for going.
Housebreaking isnt easy
give her one of them condams.
