I'm a non-denominational Christian attending a Nazarene university in the fall.
The Behavioral Policies letter from my school that I just got in the mail says, "Students are not to indulge in music, literature, or entertainment which would not be in keeping with the building of Christian character... This includes all forms of social dancing."
Why is that? I definitely understand that bumping and grinding does not glorify God and He would not be happy seeing people do that... but what's wrong with dancing in public?

I don't know.....that is not from God...he delights in us singing and dancing
2 Samuel 6:14
"And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment"
the priority with allowing dancing interior the Nazarene Church is that when the doorways of acceptance are open...there is no thank you to end beside the point dancing. there'll continually be the argument that "I dont have an issue with any style of dance...you're judgmental to place your ethical ideas on me." we live in a "me" society. we want no obstacles. this is an extremely unhappy subject. So what can we do as a church? enable it to bop as a manner to entice greater human beings? can we exchange into like the international so as that we are able to develop? Or can we proceed to set ethical training as a manner to win human beings to the Lord? From what i'm analyzing relating to the Nazarene Church, it style of feels that we now not choose for to proceed to stand reliable on social themes which will finally brought about a social type "club." I even have seen this take place to many different church homes. they have become greater of a club and much less of a soul prevailing church.
Nazarenes have very strong (and sometimes arbitrary) standards. They are trying to maintain a high level of morality and it seems in this case they go too far.
The joke goes that Nazarenes forbid sex as well because it is too much like dancing.
I just want to say thank you for your answer to my question about science and religion, all those people who don't believe it is possible are so closed minded that they wont even read everything i wrote about it.
and to answer your question it is because some people think that dancing is a sin, but in truth it is a way to celebrate, heck even Jesus partied and drank wine lol
Absoulutly nothing, sounds like an attempt at mind control by removeing everything worth living for......
nothing wrong with dancing in public, just not inapropriately like you said.
