When I registered with Newham council our household income was 12K a year, but after that my husband got a better job and we carry on bidding for a council house in Newham council. Now after 6 years my husband basc salry is 26.5/K per year and after overtime he earns around 35/k.We are rally in need of council house as we cannot afford anymore high rent and he has to work very hard. Can someone please tell me earning this much money effects our housing priority? As we are expecting another child, Renting is too high in our area and no quality of life if you pay more than half of your salary to landlords. Can please someone tell me what should we do. Thanks

Yes; higher income will make a difference. You'll need to speak to the council to make sure they're aware of the current income, and see what difference it will make. Also speak to them about housing benefit, if you're not already claiming this,
Have you thought of getting a job yourself? If you live in London, it makes sense to have 2 incomes. And don't have children you can't afford; its not fair on them.
Also - consider moving somewhere cheaper. You may have to move further out of the centre, or into an area you don't like as much, but if your rent is lower, then it'll be more affordable.
