Nintendo's 3DS is the successor to the DS line in the same way the DS was a successor to the Gameboy Advanced line. Featuring advanced graphics capabilities better than the PSP and Ipod, that come close to (if not better than) Wii and PS2's capabilities, as well as 3d without the need for glasses, the 3ds features a lot more graphical power than the previous DS. http://www.infendo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/... . While nintendo has worked on 3d portables before, (there was a 3d Gameboy SP in production that failed because the SP had no graphics capabilities, as well as a 3d portable called "virtual boy" released that failed badly) all ended up failing. The 3ds is the first to succeed, as it sends one picture to the left eye, and one to the right eye, fooling the brain into thinking the image is 3d. The 3ds has a D-Pad, the classic "ABYX" buttons, a start button, a select button, L and R shoulder buttons, as well as a few new features- an analogue stick, a home button, and a 3d slider that makes the 3d more or less intense. It also has a 3d camera. As for games, the 3ds is very promising. A new animal crossing, a new mario kart, a new nintendogs (that features cats) , and the most anticipated one for most gamers- Kid Icarus Uprising (this is a launch game and the one that most info is known about). Kid Icarus is the return of Pit, who hasn't been in a game for around 20 years. It is a shooter that is a mix between third person shooter, and on rails shooter. This is the main game for the 3ds, and if ANY game will become a killer app in the first month of its lifespan, it will be this one. The 3ds will come out in all regions by march 2011, but probably will come out earlier. If nintendo finishes it on time, it will come out at christmas, but no official release date is known. The price isn't known either, but it will be more expensive than the current line of DS. Expect it to be between 190 and 280 dollars.
