One of the system files that you need for the R4 to run, has been deleted off the Micro-SD card. That's what "DS_MENU.DAT" is for. :-) What you first need to do, is figure out what version of the R4 your son has - that way, you can make sure you download the right software.
My best guess is that a file has gone missing somewhere along the way. I'd personally probably just move anything important off of the card (game saves, photos, music...) and then start from scratch with a fresh installation of the latest system files.
I can't give you a direct link from work but in the "download" section of the following website you should be able to find the latest system files. The breakdown should be something like downloads ---> system files and loader ---> official files ----> R4.
Once you're working with fresh system files you can move everything back on to the card business as usual. If you're still having problems I would start to wonder if your MicroSD card has become damaged or the card itself. In my experience MicroSD cards have a pretty limited lifespan unless they are taken care of very well.

Hi there,
One of the system files that you need for the R4 to run, has been deleted off the Micro-SD card. That's what "DS_MENU.DAT" is for. :-) What you first need to do, is figure out what version of the R4 your son has - that way, you can make sure you download the right software.
Check out this page to do that:
http://www.r4dsrevolution.co.uk/download-r4-softwa...
Once you've figured out which R4 he has, then download the correct software, which should also be accessible from that page.
Finally, install the software by unzipping it onto your Micro-SD card, as the guides below show:
http://www.dscardworld.com/support.shtml#number2
http://www.nds-gear.co.uk/support/how-to-setup-ds-...
If you're looking to get genuine cards in the future, by the way, I recommend the first shop out of those two (the second is decent but in England).
All the best!

Um...have you ever heard of a little thing called GRAMMAR?! Sorry but I don't understand what you're trying to say.
My guess is this: remove the game card(s) and press the power button/switch. Then go to the settings and set the DS to manual mode
I could mean the card's data has messed up.
(And if its a DSi, it will block the r4 card)
basically, your card is messed up i think. If you want a new one with 20 games included contact me at [email protected]
Thanks
