Hello, to answer your question, yes, I think you should get a nintendo ds. I have one and they are very fun. They also have a lot more games than the psp. A couple of games I might suggest for a 14-year old girl are Super princess peach, tomogatchi town 1 or 2, or pokemon diamond or pearl. If you want to hold music, pictures, or videos, then get the psp because it is moslty for music and photos and movies, and the ds only plays games. There are games for the psp, but they are just not as good as the nintendo ds. And to answer your last question. The saved games get saved directly on to the game itself, so you can play a game on any ds and you will have the same data.

The Nintendo DS is a great console for girls its got a huge range of games that everyone can enjoy.

For a 14 year old girl I'd recommend New Super Mario Bros. Yoshi's Island DS and Nintendogs. Of course there are games for the DS aimed just for girls but the games listed above are some of the better ones available.

The saves are stored on the game cards themselves.

I think it's a pretty good choice. I have two, and they are both great! If you are getting the Lite though, get a hard case for it immediately! They are quite brittle. Games wise, Pokemon (believe it or not), Nintendogs, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, and Tetris DS. The games are saved on your game card. Only your username, birthdate, time, etc. are stored on the actual DS.

well the ds is very popular and i have a ds lite and its great. You should they come in 3 coulours white,black, and pink. most people get black eaither because they think they are being diffrent or they just like the look of it. i have 2 ds lites a pink and a white one and ppl say the white one gets dirty but it does not the only problem with the white one is the L and R buttens get yellow after a while. so i gave you a bit of information on the ds coulors and i would suggest getting one. (And if you do get it do not use you fingers to play he games)
