Nintendo DSi is ultimate. Nintendo DSi * includes: Nintendo DSi gadget, Nintendo DSi AC Adapter, Nintendo DSi Stylus (2), undemanding initiate handbook, Manuals (worry-loose & Controls) and help e-e book
graphics stay the same since they did update the chip in order to keep up with the resolution. Im not a fan of nintendo since the gameboy but i saw there was a nintendo ds 3d, it has two screen stacked on top of each other so you can actually see it in 3d without the glasses.if youre planning on buying a nintendo ds i would wait for the 3d one.
the resolution doesnt suffer at all. the screen is substantially bigger and much easier and better playable. butttttt id wait for the 3DS, backwards compatibility, new games with graphics better than the Wii, and...3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're basically the same thing except for the screen size.
I have had both, and the graphics look the same on the XL, if not better. They don't look worse or even pixelated; it looks great.
But other than that, the XL is the same. So if you don't care about a bigger screen, you should just stick with a DSi.
I personally don't care for the idea of a 3DS :p
