Laptop, you can go wireless. The only cable I have to hooked to mine is the power cable to charge the battery. It's nice not having all those wires running everywhere. Also mine fits in the keyboard drawer of my desk, so when it's not being used, you can't even tell I've got a computer.
I have a laptop and love it!! I can sit anywhere, take it with me out of town, whatever... It's like this, cordless phone, or wall phone? You are stuck to the wall with a wall phone, a cordless you can take with you all around the house and even in the yard!! :)
Just make sure you do some checking and get a good one.
It really depends what you need it for. If you don't plan on taking it anywhere, I recommond a desktop. I have a laptop now, and plan on purchasing a desktop soon. Yeah, a desktop takes up more room, but it is also more comfortable if you have to be on it for a long period of time. Good luck with your purchase.
Who is buying it? Are you in college? If soooo.......than Id say lap top! If it's a family computer.......and you're not buying it.....than a regular desk top computer.
