I don't know 'articles' very much.
Please correct some sentences I made.
1. When does 'the' winter vacation start?
2. What are you going to do during 'the' winter vacation?
3. What are you going to do on Christmas day? (no article before Christmas day?)
4. Are you buying 'a' Christmas present?
Please help.
Thank you.

Yes, number three is correct, there is no article. One and two are technically correct, though the articles are not 'necessary'. You could say instead:
When does winter vacation start?
What are you going to do during winter vacation?
In 1 and 2 you don't need "the". 3 is right, and 4 is right if you have "a" before Christmas.
