I love its simplicity, classic feel and also how it looks when written. It doesn't sound like a nickname to me. I knew a little girl called Clara, and she was the sweetest thing. She's the first Clara I met, so now whenever I see the name I think of her. It also makes me think of the rich, but infinitely kind and humble girl from the story Heidi.
Clara Madeleine (but I pronounce it Mad-uh-len, the French way)
Clara Elise
Clara Charlotte
Clara Marie
Clara Nicole
Clara Natalia
Clara May
Clara Therese
Clara Christine
Clarissa sounds a bit too fussy for me and just doesn't have that same classy feel.
Cassandra is alright and has a lot of nickname options, but I still prefer Clara.
I like both of them, but I prefer Clarissa. I wouldn't worry too much about the TV show with a character by that name, which I believe was popular almost 20 years ago. No one is going to assume you've named your child after that character, whose name I think was actually inspired by a lengthy, but exquisitely well-written 19th century novel called Clarissa.
One concern about Clara is the tendency for people to make some moronic remark about "Clarabel the Cow". Again, it's silly, but something to at least consider.
By the way a name such as Clarissa Claire or Clarissa Catherine (I'm avoiding Clarissa Clara, because it is far too alliterative) can always be abbreviated into a nice nickname such as C.C.
Cassandra is a nice choice, too, but be wary of the insistence of others in nicknaming her Cassie or Sandy.
It sounds more elegant and modern. As for Clara, I know a few elderly seniors with that name.
Besides, with Clarissa, it'll be easy to make a nickname out of it. If the name sounds too long, it can be shorten to Clary, and Claire. Or even Clara. Basically you get both names with Clarissa.
Other names I think that would be good are Crystal, Paris, Kaylie, Kylie, and Audrina.
Of the three choices I prefer Clarissa. Clarissa is a classic and beautiful name. Also, if you really cannot choose a Clarissa can always go by Clara, in fact my cousin Claressa (Claressa is not a typo it is her name, pronounced CLA-RE-SA) goes by Clara. Middle name possibilities include Maya, Rose, Marie, and a lot more. Another name you may consider is Carissa. This happens to be my name and I think it is very pretty. It is a more unique name, but it isn't so unique that people have never heard of it. I hope I helped and congratulations :).
I just like how CLARISSA sounds much more than how Clara sounds. However, I'd choose Claire if I were going to go w/this type of name. May I suggest Clarissa Beth or Claire Skye as first and middles. Also if you use Clarissa there are possibilities for n/n such as Claire, Rissa, Larissa, Riss
I definitely choose Clara. I didn't have to think twice! Clara has been on my favorites list for quite some time. Currently, the middle name I have her paired with is Madeleine pronounced mad-uh-line), and I don't plan on changing it. Clara is such a beautiful name!
Clarissa just isn't as pretty to me. It's easy to slur the first part of the name when saying it. Instead of cluh-rissa/clare-issa, it can sometimes sound like clur-issa, like you're missing the a. I like similar names like Melissa, Alyssa, and Claire, I just don't like Clarissa.
A good name suggestion? Hmm...girls name I'm assuming, right? Well, how about:
I prefer Clarissa over Clara. Clarissa in my opinion is less common and sounds like a name of Royalty, very classy yet still modern. Clara is a nice name but its more old fashioned & outdated. It reminds me of a name an elderly woman would have.
I would pick this name because it is a play on the names you chose.
"Larissa Claire". I feel this name is modern, yet classy and has that old fashioned feel with a little twist.
"Cassidy" is a personal favorite of mine, this is a good choice of name in my opinion.
I like Clara because Clarissa reminds me of a tv show my big sister used to watch called "Clarissa explains it all" with Melissa Joan Heart and always hated kids being named after tv personalities. I personally love the name Cara. It's always seemed like a strong, independent name.
I love the name Clarissa. It is not a very common name and it means “Illustrious.” Clara sounds like a nickname to me. I would suggest either Clarissa Renee or Natalie Paige.
