Potential charger problems...?

So. Sitting in the lounge late at night on the laptop. Was starting to make racket on youtube so I headed to my room. Plugged everything in and the screens brightness started to play up and laptop died twice , and the third time stayed dead. When i try turn it on it says 'Warning! critical battery low' followed by 4 beeps
I plug the charger in, and where it goes in the blue light flashes.. On the front of the laptop where there is power light charging light and HDD light. None are lit. Only the charging light flashes 3 times every 30seconds or so.. It may be the charger, maybe the battery. I'm not sure.. Any help appreciated

I would definitely say the charger. Your laptop needs power right (of course, its a electronic device)? So your laptop wouldn't be able to power on without either the battery or charger. Now, a battery's purpose is to allow the laptop to be mobile, holding power and allowing the laptop to be functional without the charger. Assuming the battery was either disconnected or non-functional; it would mean your laptop would have to run on the charger 24/7 to be on. Mobility is removed. Now you said your laptop could not turn on, even with the charger connected. Power from the outlet isn't reaching your laptop because the charger is no longer functional. Makes any sense?
If any laptop is unable to turn on with the charger connected, its more than likely the charger's fault (defective). I would suggest you purchase a replacement as soon as you can so you can use your laptop once again.
