If you are serious about medicine, head to Canada. Many students from the Caribbean come to the U.S. or Canada for university training because the schools are better.
What about enrolling in a U.S school that has a strong study abroad program. Most universities have a study abroad program. This might be your best option, saving you lots of hassles trying to get into med school.
Canada, without question. We once had some students from one of the Caribbean schools in our hospital. One of them examined one of my patients, (with permission) -- came up with a diagnosis of Prostatitis in a female (!) .[ The problem was a herniated disc and radiculopathy-was admitted for surgery after conservative measures failed.] Since females do not HAVE a prostate, made me wonder about their basic education.
Not a good reputation.
Folks that cannot make it anywhere else go there.
You will do yourself a favor by attending medical school in Canada instead of the Caribbean and you'll be treated more seriously when it comes time to find a residency.
