The i5 is MUCH better at gaming and is overall faster than the 6300 in most benchmarks, where as the 6300 will only shine in parts that can use all of its cores, such as 3D model rendering, HD video encoding/render, etc. If you want a processor that is just overall really fast and much better for gaming, go with the i5.

AMD .. Phenom II 940 will blow anything away thats now not i7 or rate you a arm and leg on the intel facet .. All that money for proformance you wouldnt even discover different then pure benchmarks wouldnt be worth it. But if in case you have the money i7 has the power .. However your gonna spend cash to own it.

It stays cooler, is more efficant, is better at gaming, is faster, and it's more compatible. I would get the Intel Core i5 3570K.
