could I fix the folloing wall bracket to the side of my ward-robe and suspend a standard 90 cm punchbag from it? Or would the strength of the wood not be sufficient enough? Below is the link for the bracket. the wardrobe is just a standard cheap varnished wood affair.

No. Its not so much that the bracket isn't strong enough, its the weight of the bag that would pull your wardrobe to pieces. The whole time theres a bag attached to the bracket, your wardrobe wood would be put under stress. Every time you strike the bag, extra stress would be placed on the wardrobe as well. If you only have a standard (about 1cm thick) wardrobe, then Id expect it to last for maybe 5-10 minutes. Possibly you'd be OK with a speedball but thats not really a punchbag.
