Reading comprehension?
I admit my grammar is not perfect. I think grammar is a difficult, sometimes it seems subjective, subject. But how some presumable educated people so often misunderstand simple questions is baffling.
I assume some of you have noticed your questions sometime receive baseless, as in being fallacious, corrections, because those who answer them somehow feel entitled to correct you on your supposed misunderstandings, despite the fact that an accurate reading, or the most reasonable interpretation, of those questions would clearly show that there's no basis for assuming you were ignorant of what they tried to correct you on.
My question is, should there be a reading comprehension test here, or should the ones in schools be improved?

A reading comprehension test would greatly cut down on the number of moronic questions asked in this forum, and hopefully discourage the pre-teens from filling the categories with questions like "dose he like me?????" ... Oy.
I think chat-speak and text messaging is probably partly to blame for the fact that so many young people can't string together a coherent sentence. Also, I suspect this generation doesn't read as much as generations of the past-- who needs books when there's TV and video games? Reading is the best way to learn to write well, and if a person doesn't read... then they can't write.
As in all things, one must consider the source. In this forum, there is as broad of range as the world wide web. It is good if you know your audiences, however, on Y/A - that is almost impossible.
So to answer your question, a comprehension test would not serve well in this forum at all. And, do they even read in schools anymore?
How about this? The money that was promised from Lotto sales is ACTUALLY used in our educational system??!! Your question is completely moot, because no one cares!! People just spout all kinds of crap without any censoring. self discipline. When I say censoring, I do not mean cutting out of offensive material, I mean they just do not give one whit of care about how foolish or ignorant they may sound. And, that! Is the real problem. Too few people care.
I think the ones in schools need improvement.
