I know this is a weird question but I have found whenever someone compliments me, I almost always say 'what' (as in asking them to repeat what they said) It's as if my brain hasnt took in whatever was said to me, yet the second I ask 'what?' i almost 'remember' what was said. it is very strange, and im trying to figure out why i do this. some of my friends say i have low self esteem, but i dont really think i do...any ideas?

Are there certain compliments you tend to receive?
if there - try this, picture a person who might well say it to you and imagine they say it, and imagine you say thanks and compliment them back, repeat with few other people.
You will find the next time you get a compliment you will do just that.
When someone compliments you say thank-you because they really mean it.Others are seeing you in a different light then you see yourself. You must not put yourself down you must try and understand that a compliment is the highest form of flattery,so go on,be admired. There is nothing wrong with that.Carry on receiving compliments and this will boost your self esteem.Give it a try!
I'd say you weren't really actively listening to what people tell you and so you ask them to repeat it as if you don't really believe what they are saying.
Or it could be as simple as having your hearing checked.
Normal response to compliments, thank you .
tell people not to give you compliments
thats what i do
i hate compliments
