hello
I have had 7 coldsores in 3 months. And another trying to come up. Some of those 2 of those didnt make it very far as I took Aclivor tablets. But why am i still getting them so soon after taking the tablets?
I take Lysine which is meant to help, I exercise. Recently I have been sleeping better then I normally do. I take multi vitamins. I have tried so many things for coldsores and the only thing that has ever worked is the tablets. But my doctor is getting a bit fed up of me asking for them i think, as you have to take them within something like 8 hours of it coming up so i have to call him to get it.
I often use salt water on it to dry it up quickly.
Any any other suggestions??

You should have a standing prescription for Acyclovir. If the doctor is making you get a new script for each outbreak, you should consider a doctor who is going to be more proactive. Ask for a referral to a dermatologist or an infectious disease specialist.

Cold sores preventive treatment is not 100% effective proof. Dosage otherwise of Valaclovir (substance) name is of 500mg per day, but if there are many recurrences, it is advisable to break the tablet in 2 and take twice 250mg per day. What does your doctor think?
