I'm coming off a love/hate relationship with my Benz and now I'm looking for something I won't have to get repaired every 3 months. Something cheap, reliable but also fun to drive. So the Civic/tC debate has begun in my head. I have no plans to modify either. I'd like to hear from people who have owned one or both. Are they truly reliable day-to-day? Any issues you've run into? Likes/Dislikes? And for those that have driven both, how do they compare to drive? Is one more fun than the other?

I wouldn't get either, but if I had to choose between the two I would get a Civic.
Any thoughts of other cars? I think Scion TC drivers are absolutely terrible, mainly the fact that they are teens who think they're fast. I haven't driven one, my friend has one and it handles basically like the 2000's Celicas. Interior wise it's just plain like any other car. The Honda Civic is absolutely reliable, comfortable and very easy to maintain. Interior it's pretty average too, other than the digital speedometer everything is about average.
Only reason I wouldn't get either is because I don't want to have a car that 1/4 people have. I like to have something luxurious too so that's another reason.
Im guessing your budget is over 10k so look into these, same class as the Civic and Tc but better in my opinion:
Volkswagen Jetta
Volkswagen GTI
Lexus IS250
Nissan Altima Coupe
Id say the tc , I test drove a tc before & I really liked it :) , I haven't drove the honda civic because it doesn't really intrest me . I don't like the interior of the car at all ! I know 4 people with honda civis & they are happy & like all of them . Both cars are reliable but I prefer the tc but add the pedestal spoiler . The tc feels naked without the pedestal spoiler . So out of both cars I prefer the scion tc :)
both cars are fun to drive and are gas efficient. i have found problems with the tc prematurely waring out tires because of a back spacing problem with the 17 inch rims.
