I am writing an article for my school newspaper and i need some thoughts oh how democracy in Iran should be achieved (such as: should the US step in?) or why democracy in Iran should not be achieved (such as:democracy would not solve their problems). Which is more ideal for both Iran and the rest of the world?

they tried that once and we took it away from them to steal their oil
There is a democracy in Iran. The president is elected and the current one is Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. The head of state, however, is the Ayatolla Khamenei, a religious leader. Iran operates much in the same way as a constitutional monarchy in that respect. The real question should be whether or not Canada or Great Britain should therefore develop democracies.
If you were to actually ask the Iranian people, most would tell you that they HAVE a "Democracy." They have their elected officials, including a president and a parliament.
Easier said than done with an oppressive regime.
